Dozen Bakery

Off the Beaten Path

  1. Dozen Bakery

Order: Lemon Poppy seed Scone

Average Price: $

Perks: This place remains largely undiscovered, so it’s perfect for weekend brunch. Quiet, open, and airy – Dozen Bakery offers a peaceful space to sit and write, or catch up with friends. Their scones are the best I’ve ever had.

Caught My Eye: Open windows to view the bakery inside. Lunchtime specials.

Also Try: Blueberry Muffin, and the quinoa salad.

  1. Eighth and Roast

Order: Latte

Average Price: $

Perks: Still hole-in-the-wall enough to provide a quiet study space, the wide windows and wooden tables provide the perfect, lazy coffee afternoon.

Caught My Eye: Simple, unassuming coffee. Brick walls. The motto “Coffee Inspired” painted on the window.

Also Try: Pour-over coffee

  1. Pinewood Social

Order: A spiked coffee drink

Average Price: $$

Perks: The open seating and retro design make Pinewood Social a wonderful place to gather with a group of friends for a birthday or celebration. The place also has a bowling alley and pool, plus a little coffee area next to the bigger restaurant.

Caught My Eye: Right next to an amazing view of downtown. Light blue and white décor. Weekend brunch menu.

Also Try: The cocktail menu
